Celebrating Renoir's Birthday

To celebrate Renoir's birthday on Saturday, I tried my hand at an Impressionist background on my Live@8pm MT Friday
night and was pretty delighted with the result!

you can watch it here on youtube

You'll see how I used blending brushes and inks, a cloud die as a mask and a smooshing techniques to add some dimension. I added a bit of fun with the bright sailboat and sentiment from Let's Set Sail (157900) You can grab a current host code to earn Loyalty rewards with me and access my online store super easy on the sidebar.

Check out the shadow on the water. I tried my hand at it after reading this about the Master:

In the late 1860s, through the practice of painting light and water en plein air (in the open air), he and his friend Claude Monet discovered that the color of shadows is not brown or black, but the reflected color of the objects surrounding them, an effect today known as diffuse reflection.

I enjoy reading a bit about new things and enjoy the inspiration from a variety of things. I explore lots of things on my Lives most weeknights on my facebook page
I'd love you to pop in! ( and the recordings are there from the past 2 years of when I started, some hits, some misses!)

smiles,

Laurie LaRose
