Thankful Banner for Autumn

I'm am in love with the new Banner kit that Stampin'Up! has in their Holiday catalogue!
There are so many possibilities...
I am in need of  new wall decor in our entryway, so I got busy with making this banner to put up for the first of September.

I'm excited to be able to offer a class during the first week of September as well. Two options for timing: on September 7, Thursday evening at 7pm and Saturday, September 7 at 10am. Let me know if you're interested in coming.

I made all the leaves from the Autumn die cut and loads of sponging, spritzing and scrunching. I added a couple rosettes for some dimension and different detail and a bunch of buttons from the Regal package.

There is so much to be thankful for, it's always good to have a bit of a reminder.

smiles,
Laurie

  1. Laurie,
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your banner! It's gorgeous and I want to CASE it! Since I can't come to your class, and I've seen what kind of hotel rooms you stay in, I might need close-up pictures and colors.. hint, hint. :)

    1. Jayne, I used Cajun Craze, Old Olive, and Indigo Blue to spritz the canvas. The DSP is from Sweater Weather.
The leaves are sponged with loads of layers of colours starting with the Old Olive (that you don't really see but seems to lend that reality to the leaves under all the layers of red and yellow) The Maple leaves are even edged with Eggplant, which at first you think, oh dear. but again that dried edgy look from nature. Before sponging them, use your stylus to draw the 'veins'. After sponging, spritz with alcohol and a bit of shimmer mixed in, then scrunch them into a little ball. Unfold them for the fantastic foilage to decorate everything with.
I even bring in branches later in the Fall and glue dotted these onto the bare branches for a Fall Vase in my entry way last year!
I sponged with Espresso ink the letters, added a bit of dimension with the rosettes (both sides of the paper, but a little less than half for each one)
I used about 20 buttons on these 8 panels. I would have liked a big blue button on the 'h' but my package of Regals didn't have anymore (!?!) I used some wooden ones as well, and tied little bows of Linen Thread on each of the big buttons.
      Will that help?
Thanks for your kind words..I'm pretty excited by how this came together...one of my few 'own creations' out of my head inspired only by the Halloween one...
I love these banners and I'm planning a Mother/Daughter one to make them of their name for the Girls' rooms!
